The comb was named after the American actress and swimmer Esther Williams (1921-2013). An excellent swimmer, she was to participate in the 1940 Summer Olympics. Unfortunately cancelled due to the Second World War, she turned to the cinema and became one of the greatest actresses of the golden age of Hollywood.
